What would one point better look like?
A practical place to begin when changing your whole life feels overwhelming.
When I was finding my way forward after burnout and losing the company, I needed a place to begin. I could see what had gone wrong. It was harder to see what a better life would actually look like.
One question helped me establish a baseline: on a scale of one to ten, how would I rate my life?
Give the number some meaning.
The number alone is not the insight. The conversation behind it matters. Why did you choose it? What is already working? What feels absent, out of alignment, or difficult to keep carrying?
You might be grateful for parts of your life while wanting others to change. There is room for both.
Make better personal.
What would a ten look like for you? Think beyond a business target. What would your relationships feel like? What would you have time for? What would give you a sense of happiness, joy or fulfillment?
Those answers help shape a direction. Then bring it closer: what would need to happen to move your current number up one point?
Choose a step you can act on.
It might mean protecting time with someone you care about, returning to a practice you have abandoned, or having a conversation you have been avoiding. It might mean removing a commitment rather than adding another task.
You choose the change. In coaching, my role is to guide the questions, help you create a practical roadmap, and review what you learn as you act on it.
How would you rate your life today? Why that number? What would one point better look like?
